My 70 C-10 350 with factory AIR CONDITIONING, doesn't have the heater hose clip pictured below.

Were they only on NON air conditioned trucks or is mine just missing ?

If it's missing, can somebody post a picture of exactly WHERE it goes ?

( does it clip to the fender well ( like some cars do ) or is it just a " clamp " to hold the two hoses together ? )

Steve there shoud be a square hole in your inner fender for the clip to fit into.

. . . the inner fender IS a reproduction, so they probably didn't bother with the square hole !!!

Maybe someone can post a picture so I can " engineer " a square hole ????

That's interesting !!! The only picture I have saved of one on a truck with A/C shows it just clamping the two hoses together.

There isn't a lot of room with the A/C valve on top of the inner fender.

Where should it have attached in the picture below ?

Oops I didn't read the whole post. My bad. I do not know if it attached to the inner fender on not on trucks with A/C. I have only seen them attached to tye inner on NON-A/C trucks.

Steve there are two types of clamps. One that like pictured is on non a/c trucks, and the second type actually is held in place by one of the heater water valve screws ( the front one, nearest the rad.) and the 3/4 line runs across to the water pump while held by a strap clamp located on the front of the a/c pump.

On my 68 with AC, the clip shown in your first pic is present. It pops through a hole on the inner fender as well.

I was surprised to see the clamps on the A/C hoses. I thought they must have been replaced. Does your A/C hold a charge and function correctly?

I think I only added a pound of R12 up to 1994 when I stored the truck. Even after that, it would blow cold air when I ran it a couple times a year. Then, about 2006, the compressor started slinging oil so I didn't test it after that. There was still a charge when I had it evacuated prior to the restoration that started in 2010. I was actually disappointed that no one makes clamp type restoration hoses for originality purposes.

It's amazing how many changes were made to these trucks from 67-72. The mechanical and accessory changes, in my opinion, were far more numerous and significant than the visual design modifications. The 69 Service Manual clearly shows the A/C and heater hose routing and clamp type A/C hoses on page 1A-29 including the clip that sparked this discussion. I suggest that O.P. and anyone else interested check their year's Service Manual to see what it shows.
