Will a '67-'72 gas tank fit in our '60-'66 cabs?
Mine is clogging up my fuel filter, because it sat for 6-8 years. I found a new '67-'72 tank on CL for a decent price but don't want to move on it unless it's an exact fit... or at least close enough to work.
Anyone do this before, or know if it will (or will not) work?

Not without some modifications.

What kind of modifications are you talking about? For the physical fit, or the connections (fuel line, sending unit, filler neck)?

The physical fit. The '67-'72 tanks do not sit in saddles as the '60-'66 tanks do. They have a flange on them that bolts to the floor. Other than that, I do not know how else they may differ.

I just removed a nearly new tank from my 61 if you can figure a way to get it from Florida pm me. It cannot be shipped commercial due to residual gas in tank. Jim

Thanks Captainfab, I spotted one at a local salvage yard and could see first-hand the differences you mentioned.
57chevy406, shipping from Florida to Texas might be a bit much for me. I decided to use the tank from my perpetually parked '63 (once I remembered I had it) and ordered a new sending unit from Classic Parts.
