How do you know what size shock to get when lowering?
hey guys quick question. How do you know or measure what shock size to get when lowering your truck? I have a 68' long bed with springs in the rear and just ordered 2" lowering blocks with a 4" lowering springs, what type or size shock should I get for that much of a drop? Does that go the same for the front too?
Thank you! |

With that much drop front and rear you should also look into putting on the shock relocators. They will correct the angle change for the shock mounts and help out.
I have the ECE on the back and went with the front relocator that moved the shock mount on top of the frame. |

Re: How do you know what size shock to get when lowering?
You will need a shock that is approx, Extended 15-1/2" - Collapsed 10" to not bottom out, and like the other guy said you will need a rear shock relocation kit from CPP.
You can just buy a stock height front shock and put it on the back if you want to because it is the correct specs. For the front I'm guessing you have 2" or 2.5" drop spindles with 2" drop springs so you will need a shock that is 2" shorter extended and collapsed than stock. Hop on rockauto.com they have great prices on shocks. Last edited by Xeen; 09-30-2014 at 05:01 PM. |

I can't answer your question but just I googled "how to measure for shocks" and thousands of links showed up.
