Re: rack and pinion
I am getting ready to install one in my 62 on a Porterbuilt drop member. Flaming River rack quick ratio 15:1 told the standard one is what everyone else runs. I have an extra set of rack to spindle links. I would think if you fab mount it would work. The connection would be on bottom where mine will mount on top.

Re: rack and pinion
I did it- you just need to push it up the same amount you cut out of the crossmember- which means c-notching the frame.
The MII rack is exactly the same knuckle to knuckle as the stock center link- so if you put it in the same position as stock (adjusted for your crossmember section) then you aren't changing the steering geometry at all.

Re: rack and pinion
I didn't section my crossmember but I did notch the frame 1.5" to raise it. I'm using a No Limit Engineering rack kit with no clearance issues.
