JD - welcome to the forum! Lexington, eh? KY or somewhere else? The only thing I can imagine you are describing is the ash tray. Don't worry, you can pull it out. Without a pic, don't know if it's that or perhaps something a previous owner jammed onto your dash for who knows whatever reason. Don't be afraid to post a pic - we've all had questions about just about everything on our trucks!

The funniest question I read on here was the one about "what's this button on the floor over by the parking brake pedal?"

Smile Re: Whats that blank for

I like the ejection seat button. I would have known it was the ash tray if I had the Blazer but I won't have it till next week......still in transit. But, after all the pics I saw of it, it looks like it would be hard to open with no handle. Thats why I thought it was a blank for another option, like an ejection seat button.
Thanks for the reply's guys. This site has a lot of good stuff, I really like the info on the option list.

Good point - no handle, but there is a finger pull lip on the bottom edge.

Did you tell them "it's so you don't get your foot hung up in the steering wheel"?

I had a 1960s car that had two of those from the factory (and neither was a starter). Anyone care to guess what the second one was?

J. D. don't let us deter you from asking questions. This site has a wealth of info, even though sometimes you have to work past us smart a's. I thought I knew a lot about these trucks when I joined, but was amazed at what I didn't know. Good luck with your truck.

You mean one for each headlight? That'd be fancy.

A pic is always good. I'm betting that it's probably an ashtray. The bead around it makes it look like a blank

Re: Whats that blank for

Should be the ash tray, unless they cut it for something.... Here is the bracket that goes in it, should have three mounting screws...holes on sides are for little rubber bumpers. Lmc sells the tray itself in chrome if I remember right...otherwise they are painted.

Re: Whats that blank for

It's not too crazy considering most manufacturers have not included an ash tray in automobiles for over a decade. The what's the button on the floor always make me laugh though.
What's the second button Dave? You got me...

Re: Whats that blank for

It was not a windshield sprayer. And I'm not 20-40.

It was the "Next Radio Station" button for whatever Chrysler called its version of the Wonderbar radio. So roughly equivalent to a "Seek" button on a modern radio.

It's in my 1963 Imperial. It even used to work, though last time I went to check on it a tube had gone, sadly. It's in a field now (parts car).

When it worked and I was younger no one would ever see your foot move, so I'd pretend it had a "clapper" feature, or that it was voice activated by yelling, or any number of crazy things.
