Steering Column Interchange Question

My 84 C-20 has a non-tilt, non-cruise steering column with floor shift. Since it's a 1984, the wiper switch is on the column. I am curious of which years will work to replace the column.

I know 1984 is the first year that will work, but how far up can I go? Into the 1990's perhaps?

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

I would think '84-'87 truck and '88-'91 suburban blazer and crew cab.

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

I was thinking so too, but I was curious if the columns up to 1994 on the newer body style would work also, they look similar anyway (minus the steering wheel).

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

I don't know for sure but I would guess that the column it self is the same but the mounts are different. For sure the lower plate that bolts to the firewall is different.

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

Maybe this guy can ship you this tilt floor shift column out of an 85.

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

Looks like a decent column, but I'm looking to stay non-tilt.

Thanks for the thought though!

Re: Steering Column Interchange Question

I don't thing cruise or non-cruise would matter. I changed my cruise to non-cruise just by pulling out the stalk and wire and pushing in a non-cruise arm. Old one was peeling chrome anyway.
