1970 C20 Chevy Camper Special - TOOLBOX OPTION
I've been looking for the toolbox that was an option on this model for my father-in-law. It's proving do be impossible. Does anyone kow where to find one, any leads, anywhere to even find specs or blueprints so one can be fabricated. Really any info you can provide would be helpful. Thanks.

Welcome to the board. You can check out the Classified Forum on here, they show up from time to time.... You can't post a wanted to buy but if you find one for sale on there you can buy it. The hard part will be the door, they are hard to find and expensive when you do. LockDoc

welcome grind - fwiw, it's worth joining JUST so you can post a Want To Buy ad in the parts section. If you continue to wait on one to be posted for sale, almost guaranteed someone will nab it before you do. If you post a WTB though - you're the buyer for whoever posts on that thread. It's worth being a member, even if just for that. Nobody re-pops em, and I don't believe anyone could fab one. Needs to be factory to be correct. I paid about $400-ish for the lower bed panel, a door, and some bad hinges and the box - and that was a good deal, then another $100+ for new hinges (someone on here makes new hinges, they are very nice). My truck is an original tool stowage box optioned truck, but a PO grafted over a replacement bed panel so he could put in a 3rd gas tank. I need to replace it to restore the truck someday. Good luck with your search.

They're out there. It is well worth the subscription to post a Want to Buy (WTB) add. You'll have much better odds finding one.

Hey grind3215 ....
to the forums and from Ohio. As others have said ... hard part to find but a WTB might yield you results at a fair price.

The box is much easier to find than the door, that SOB is a tough one and you may have to shell out the dollars to get one before the other guy does. If you see it then buy it. They don't show up very often, meaning years.

Re: 1970 C20 Chevy Camper Special - TOOLBOX OPTION
. . . .
They do come up on here every once-in-a-while . . . The first picture, below, shows a single NOS bedside that was said to have sold for $1000 in 2010. The second picture shows a complete set up that was listed for $500. ( I don't know how long ago though ) Unfortunately, most look like mine did before it's restoration, as seen in the third, before-after picture. Mine was completely rebuilt by the guy who did my restoration - I never asked how much it COST !!! ( I just kept giving him money !!! LOL ) . . . . |

Thanks everyone, he has the door, toolbox gone though. He just retired and is going to be getting into several of these projects. I had him register for this board last night.
