Spindle Removal
How did you all remove your spindles? I have the roters/calipers off, and The two nuts inside them off, but can't figure out how to get them off. It seems like the pressure of the spring would push it off of the ball joint....

Put the nuts back on (just enough to cover the threads), smack the spindle with a hammer right where the ball joint goes through. (the nut is to keep the spring from flying out uncontrollably). If this doesn't work, you'll have to get a ball joint fork.

Yes! Put those nuts back on half way before you go any further! Then do what Randy says! Hopefully, you have the truck sittin' with jack stands on the frame just behind the lower control arms and a floor jack supporting the lower control arm before you attempt to separate the joints.

I just took the ones off my 3/4 ton,like Randy said you have to hit it with a hammer,the top one came off with a few hits but the bottom took about 20 good shots with a hammer.

Well, the top one popped off after about 10 hits. The bottom one Isn't being quite so nice. Maybe because there isn't quite so much tension on the spring anymore. I guess i'll just have to bang on it some more. I guess I could heat it up a little bit???

They can be stubborn. There should still be more than enough tension to pop it loose.

I know i'm too late but, I took a hammer and beat the crap out of the lower a-arms. Then I took a small floor jack and jacked the upper arm up which doesn't move up so it pushed the spindle out of the ball joint. I couldn't beat the upper's out and I couldn't get my hands on a fork so, that's what I rigged up.
