Front Hub Swap
I have a 1954 Chevy Truck 3100, front and rear 6 lug, I am converting to automatic transmission, and 5 lug rear end, already have the rear end with the 5 lugs, and for the front i was planing to use the ones that came from a 1955 Chevy car Bel Air, removed the 6 lugs and all the ball bearing, but the inner ball bearing on the 5 lug hub does not fit on the spindle, and here come my questions: Is this swap possible?, the 55 bail baring almost fit (have not take any measurements yet) the ball bearing on the truck is a 909602 (can't find the interior dimension) and the one on the 55 is B40 (3 inch), what should be the ball bearing I need.

Re: Front Hub Swap
If you were closer I'd swap you hubs and backing plates for hubs and backing plates but the cost of shipping would be be more than either of us would pay locally. I have 54 5 bolt hubs and backing plates on the axle I am putting under a project (ot) and want 6 lug to go with the 18 inch 1930 Chevrolet wire wheels going on it.

I can't find the 54's, I am going with front disc and I just need the hub and not the backing plates, if at any point you may want to sell them please let me know. Thanks |

Re: Front Hub Swap
They aren't for sale and that verboten if you are not a supporting member on here but I would do a straight across trade with someone in the pacific north west.

Re: Front Hub Swap
It was not my intention to offend you in my reply, you mention it was too far and too expensive to do the trade and I understood, my point was if you find local hubs as you mentioned and you decide to sell them i'll be interested, sorry if I offended you in asking a question.

Re: Front Hub Swap
I wasn't offended but just needed to clarify that I was not attempting to sell the hubs/brakes/backing plates as the moderators take a very dim view of that if you are not a paid member. I need six lug brakes and if someone on here who lives close enough so that travel costs aren't an issue for the swap I'd swap. Otherwise I have one of my buddies looking for a set. I'm not in a hurry as I have plenty of rollers to use while building the roadster and won't need the six lug setup until I am ready to put the brakes together and wires and skinny tires on it.
