Suspension travel vs shock length
Hey guys I'm in the process of building a custom trinagulated 4 link for my 65 big back window shortbed fleetside that will be laying frame. I'm running a bag on bar setup. Will be running a PB extreme up front. My question is for all the guys laying frame how are you guys limiting suspension droop? Are you using the shock to limit travel? With the bag on bar I'm getting a lot more lift than I'm actually going to need and I don't want to run a ridicously long shock if don't have to. But at the same time I don't want to be ruining shocks by topping them out. Being my first build Any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Why not just run a couple limiting straps. The pre runner guys out here in Vegas run them for when they jump their trucks. Any off-road shop should have em and if they can handle a four link fully unloading on a whoop then they should give you a long lifespan. If you buy nylon make sure they are covered from the sun though.

Shocks will tolerate limited use as an extension limit, but should never bottom out before the bump stop does. This should include however much the bumpmstop compresses.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I think I'm just going to run a fairly long shock with an extended shock mount on the notch. I thought about using limiting straps but don't really want to see them since I'm not sure if I'm putting a floor in the bed. Thought about doing a cantilever set up but just have to keep reminding myself to keep it simple so I actually get the truck finished haha.
