Restore or replce 1967 cst badges ?

My 1967 cst emblems are a different color from the "Trim Parts" CST badge that you could buy on fleebay. Should I refurbish the old badges or just replace them with new ones from Trim Parts ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Trim-Par...e30d0b&vxp=mtr What would you do ?

Re: Restore or replce 1967 cst badges ?

I personally am going to restore mine for that reason. My only issue is finding any good pics of original 67 badges for reference.

The 67 badge has Blue paint in the letters and in one stripe, the other stripe is red or orange. Some one with a nice set of 67 badges please post a picture

When you restore the originals you'll need to paint them. Why not buy new ones and paint them? I understand wanting all GM, all made in USA, etc. But if it's just because they only sell badges painted Blazer colors, why not paint the fresh ones in truck colors?

Trim Parts makes a beutifull product. Someone has painted over the white on yours I think. Maybe someone else will chime in here and confirm this.

I'd clean up the old ones, paint em, and stick them on the wall in my garage. Then I'd pick up some new ones and use them on my truck. Then you have either set, just in case originality gets the better of you.

That's true. Mine have a little pitting, but not bad. As far as keeping all original, that would be nice, just not feasible in my situation. Looking original for my truck will work just as good.

So, just do the correct paint on the new badges, right?

Re: Restore or replce 1967 cst badges ?

The badges on a 69 that I bought a few weeks ago we're sprayed with primer. Soaked in paint stripper and then cleaned with very fine steel wool, then my 12 year old daughter painted them.

Hey, looks like she did a nice job! They turned out great!

Can you clarify: primer BEFORE stripper?

what/how did she paint them with?

Sorry, the trucks PO sprayed the truck with rattle can red primer and just painted over the emblems. The paint used to repaint the black is enamel model paint.

Correct. Once you said it, I was thinking it would also be less work too.

Got it. I read it closer this time and you did say that.

I've heard of using model paint, and I think some one has used fingernail polish as well. Not sure which one is better, and lasts longer?

Re: Restore or replce 1967 cst badges ?

I have used model paint and it works pretty well, but in my opinion spray paint works the best. Model paint tends to not lay flat like sray paint. But if you dont want to remove the emblems off your truck to paint them then model paint is best in my opinion.
