New member and new 70' C-10 project

hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the info and ideas!

My truck is a 70' C-10 350 long bed with 76xxx original miles. It had been parked since 2005 but I resurrected it back in August of 2014. It has a long way to come but we will slowly get there. Right now just happy to have saved it from rusting away to nothing.

Re: New member and new 70' C-10 project

Funny that you being out in Oregon should be the first to post in this thread. I live in Ohio full time (military) but the truck is out in Hillsboro Oregon with my brother. I own it, but its a combined project for us that we work on when I'm in town on leave.

So it's going to be a long term project that we do little by little.

The truck is solid mechanically, and besides the standard rocker panel and cab corner issues it has no rust in it.

We are starting buy beefing up the engine and drive train a little.

Projects in order:
1. Headers and exhaust: Has stock manifolds with an awful hack job 2inch straight pipe exhaust that has to go.
2. Quickie paint job. The factory gold/white is very tired and has lots of chips. Clean up any exposed metal and remove surface rust. Matte black her out!
3. Suspension. Swap to 5 lug axels/spindles and drop it 4 inches.

Those are the immediate plans for the next time I'm home anyway.

Thank you very much. Unfortunately updates will be a little slow due to the physical separation of me from the truck, but I'll keep them coming as I have them.

Yes it is, I was very excited to pop the glove box open and see it there in such great shape.

Haha now that's a truck!

I have been trolling CL pretty hard lately. Since this truck is out west I have been looking for a local project to pick up!

Haha yes it is, but that beast won't fit in my garage! And with the below zero temps of late I'm not working outside on anything!
