1984 305 GMC serria carb issue!

I posted in another section about this problem but I figured I'd try here as well. I changed the spark plugs and wires over the Christmas holidays and after I was done I went to crank it and the motor just raced! The carb acted wide open. I got the gapping on the spark plugs right and triple checked all the wires were on there good and in the right spot too. Looked up and down the carb and no missing springs or bent cables.. So I adjusted the dist cap till it would t turn over and slowley kept turning it back till it cranked.. Still the same problem. Looked at all the vacuume hoses and they are all intact. I'm at a loss and have NOO stinkin clue what could be causing this! Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

carb spring or linkage carb can only race if throttle plate is open.
