Woodgrain Tailgate Band

Chevrolet Woodgrain tailgate band. Used but in good condition. Some scratches in the paint. Very minor pitting on some of the letters. With some work it would be a very nice driver band. Let me know if you'd like any more pictures.

**NOTE - When checking shipping prices I noticed some minor corner damage that I had missed originally. Because of this I'm lowering the price. I've added a picture of this and some shots of the back. I believe this is GM but not sure how to tell 100% I appears someone has ground off the letter stubs at some point and replaced them.**

$75 plus shipping. SOLD

Re: Woodgrain Tailgate Band

If this is original GM I will take it, you mention pitting on letters and original has plastic letters, so if you can verify this I would appreciate it. Look on back side it should be melted studs for letters.thanks

I added 2 pictures of the back. Someone has ground off the letter studs and replaced them in the past. Wish I could say for sure it's GM. I think it is. Note the picture of some corner damage I found.

Just added a picture of some damage I noticed when pricing this for you. I've lowered the price to $75 plus shipping. It will be $30 for me to ship it with a board in it so it doesn't get bent. I have someone local willing to pay the $75. I can do $105 shipped.

Re: Woodgrain Tailgate Band

Just an FYI, the original bands had metal letters. The plastic letters didn't come into the scene until later with the GM replacement part run. I don't know exactly when the plastic letters came about, but I would venture to guess sometime in the mid-70s to early 80s. The aftermarket versions did, and do use metal letters. But based on the oxidation and iron oxide deposits on the letter retaining screws in your pictures, it looks like a nice original piece to me.
