Kid Rock Video with Old Chevys

Has anyone else seen this? There's a 72 Cheyenne Super featured along with a square body stepper and Chevelle SS among others. Enjoy!

Yeah...love it, great song, great truck....and hey that song just added about $1000 to my trucks value...LOL.
Makes me want to put it back on the road for the upcoming season!

Plus a 'Bird with a Formula hood on it.

He is from my home town so I was looking at the buildings to see if I could recognize anything, but I read later that it was filmed in Lebanon Tennessee.

The thing is practically a Chevy truck commercial...

....or a commercial espousing the classic car hobby...lol. Lots of cool stuff there.
This is an odd kind of 'boost' the hobby could use from an unexpected source (Kid Rock) that is connected to the younger demographic.
If old trucks and cars are again perceived as being 'cool' and a path to something different and unique over the current trend of silver potatoes driving around...that might help boost some younger people into the hobby.
I think if the hobby is going to continue with some momentum we have to find a way to get the younger people interested in the vehicles and this video helps a bit. I would love to go to a show'n shine and see half the cars and trucks owned by people under 30 rather than people (like me?) over 50.
I guess it starts at home by finding a way to engage the younger people at a very early age (10-12?). Hot Rod magazine had a fairly good article on how to do this a few months ago.
Just some thoughts here....

Excellent points! With video games, electronic devices and vehicles becoming so complicated and similar, I too am concerned that we may be a vanishing breed. BUT, I am also encouraged by the large number of teens on the forum.

Off topic...

How do you like my avatar Bruce? Some guy down in Florida designed that sticker for me. Thanks again!

Re: Kid Rock Video with Old Chevys

Most people I know who like kid rock are in their 40's and 50's. As far as saving our hobby...that's a tough one. I'm only 33 and went through the little front wheel drive car fad. But that has greatly gone away....or at least where I live it has. Nowadays the "kids" seem to be all about these diesel pickups. I have no clue how they afford them but I can't stand those things. It was neat 15 years ago when I saw the first one with black smoke rolling out of the stacks. But now it's annoying. I like pulling up to them with my stock (except cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust) LS powered Tahoe and teach them a lesson! As they miss shifts and my 4L60E just does its thing. Nice trucks don't get me wrong. But all the hideously modified ones make me cringe.

I'm 65 and loved the video. I thought the music and song were great and the trucks, cars and whole video theme were super. I also like the different thoughts and views from the board members.

I'm still the old one here who enjoys the video. In fact I just joined the "70+ (Old Skool Club)". I suppose Loc Doc will chime in soon to lay claim to that title.

I just read a Wikipedia bio on Kid rock that details his changing genres over the years. He started as a rapper and changed genres every 5 or so years.

Hated it. A shame he had to defile our trucks with that hideous music.
It is my opinion. Everybody has one

Hmm... so I'm probably the oldest person represented in this thread, and I like the song. I had seen a commercial for the Kid Rock tour on TV here in the Phoenix area that included a video clip. So, I searched and found the video. I've watched it numerous times.

Re: Kid Rock Video with Old Chevys

you should go to his concert this summer. They are cheap and he requires they sell $5 beers. Of course theres expensive beer and food also but you can drink all the natty light you can stomach for only $5 each. And he's good in concert.

Thanks for the tip. I've been to all the concerts I've wanted to go to and don't want to pout up with crowds anymore. In fact i saw the Beatles live in concert in 1964. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec and had chance to go to Woodstock, seeing it was only a 1/2 days drive from Montreal, but declined and regret it to this day.

I'd never pay $5 for a beer. Especially natty.

Re: Kid Rock Video with Old Chevys

I got a phone call one evening from a friend saying they were filming the video at Snow White drive in. Did not go to the shoot as it was done late in the evening and was cold outside. The old drive in where it was shot at, is scheduled to be torn down for a new fuel station. They host weekly Cruze ins and several car shows throughout the summer it will be missed. Another piece of Americana disappearing.
