Big Block Motor Mounts
Where do I get Big Block Motor mounts for a 1969 C20 with a 396. Parts stores only have the small block ones and I have been looking on line and can not find the ones for a big block.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
Did some more looking at the small block mounts and now understand what the difference is. The small block only have the rubber linking the engine to the frame where the big block has the bolt go to the plate that bolts to the block. Much stronger but can not find new ones. May have to make the small block ones work.

It is application-specific, however I know that does not mean they are what you are looking for. |

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
I would try a pull and pay type boneyard. They will go cheap and be as good as anything you'll find new.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
68 bow tie found the rubber mounts but at $79 per side I can not do that. I have a set of small block mounts $2.69 a side. Any one use small block mounts. Looks like the driver side will have to be trimmed and I will have to use big washers. Not sure if it will cause the engine to sit to low. The photo is all that is left of my mounts

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
yep they are pricey. you can supposedly make small block rubber mounts work (cheaper) with some oversized washers. there's a thread on here about it somewhere, but i can't vouch for it personally.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
If you have the mounts and just need what bolts to your engine, I used the later model mounts for an 83 gmc. Added large washer with rubber from a shock mount on the back side I had laying around. I'll get some pictures tomorrow for ya.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
The guy from Texas [whose screen name escapes me at the moment] made his small block mounts work by using big washers. Look in the FAQ section of the home page of this site. Oh yeah, I think TX firefighter is his name.. I remember he does real good work. jim

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
I'm all eyes and ears for big block motor mounts and stands...I'm dropping a 69 396ci into a 72 C-10 that has the 350/350tb in it now. I really hate to drop $200 in mounts and stands if small block stands can be made to work? Links? Pics? Thanks, ~Ghostrider~

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
Google "POL tubular engine mount brackets 1968-72", if you're not concerned w originality. That's what I plan to use in my 454\TH400 swap in my 350/TH350 equipped '72 Cheyenne.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
I have these with the urethane in my 72 and really like them. For a high torque BBC they hold up well.

Re: Big Block Motor Mounts
I ran these mounts with the 454 for about 10000 miles while the engine had a horrible vibration caused by installing the wrong flex plate. They were very solid considering I tried to shake the motor out of my truck....
Mount from Autozone for 1980's BB Stock BB Mount in my 71 Bolt with rear shock mount washer from a rodeo, very rugged
