Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
So, I have researched this for quite a while and I can't come up with an answer. My truck was originally purchased in Paris, TX near the TX OK border. The original rear bumper is white with two stickers saying "SAFETY BUMPER" and another sticker from the bumper's manufacturer Cline Industries. Part of the sticker has been worn off and I have been trying to find out the first word/s of the sticker. I'm hoping someone may be familiar with this bumper sticker. Maybe someone from Oklahoma.
It reads: "________OY BUMPER" I originally thought COWBOY BUMPER but it didn't work out when I mocked it up in Photoshop. The word COWBOY is too short. Last edited by cericd; 03-10-2015 at 02:17 PM. |

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
Here are a few other examples of this bumper I have found on the thread but they don't appear to have the Cline Industries sticker.

Are you going to recreate the sticker?

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
I was planning on it. That's why I am looking for the correct word and not just one that will fit. I currently have it mocked up in Photoshop with the correct fonts. I have been able to make out the rest of the text but that part of the sticker is missing.

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
Took the image into Photoshop and did the same inverse as the second image, then adjusted the threshold.
I'm making out a lower case "m" just before the "BOY" when threshold is taken down to around the 100 setting. There's potential that there is an r and a in there, and the first letter "could" be an "F" It looks like it could be: Farm BOY but too much degradation to be 100% sure. "Farm" would make sense for the part of the country and being rural area. Browsed through a few of their old patents on google, but no mention of any branding or names.

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
This may help you. The bumper was registered to the patent office by a Ted Cline of Cline industries in Rush Springs Oklahoma. A Ted Cline still owns a Used trailer and Fifth Wheel business there today. I bet he can tell you the rest of the name.
"United States Patent 0 ce Des. Patented Jan. 28, 1975 BUMPER FOR TRUCKS Ted L. Cline, Rush Springs, 0kla., assignor to Cline Industries, Rush Springs, Okla. " Cline's Used Travel Trailers & Fifth Wheels 4638 Highway 81 Rush Springs, OK 73082 Phone: (580) 476-0028 |

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
That sure is a trim looking step bumper. Looks like something made for a truck rather than a car bumper. I like the rounded ends that are kept tucked in and it's snugged up to the truck from the rear compared to most any other step bumper. I like a sport bumper on a style queen, but they are worthless for anything but to look at, kinda like women's shoes
My guess is Farm Boy, but looks like you can ask the man now

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
I agree with special-K that this bumper just looks right on the right truck. For instance, Maggie's Custom by jdoisher and family

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
Well, I'm bringing this thread back up. I tried calling the number listed by djgebert but it has been disconnected. I also tried mailing a letter with photos and describing the info I was looking for, it was returned unopened. Anyone out there have a bumper with the above mentioned sticker intact? Seems like Mr. Ted Cline patented at least a few rear bumpers as well as some farm equipment back in the day.

Would you happen to have a pic showing the whole bumper for style comparison to my bumper?

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
AWESOME!!! Thanks 35boulder. I knew someone out there had to have one with the sticker intact since several people have that bumper. I would have never guessed "Teddy" but I should have know since the inventor/designer's name is Ted. Thanks for posting a pic. 👍

Re: Help With Bumper Sticker Cline Industries Oklahoma
Well there you go, who would have guessed Teddy Boy Bumper? I think it is interesting to see the evolution of this sticker from no area code and GR6- phone numbers to area code included and all-numeric numbers.

Here are two pics as close up as I've got. Glad to be of help. Used to hunt in Tomball when I was a kid back in the '60s.
