Where do you guys find your trucks?

Where do you guys find most of your trucks? I can't seem to find one that is any good. I found a long bed 4x4, not for sale... a short step 2x4 lowered (not my style)... And a member offered me a blazer which I'm going to look at. Other than that, I've never seen another 67-72 in my area. Are there any secrets? Thanks in Advance

I just found my last one on CL. It was listed as a S-10. Keep looking you'll find one.

Craigslist and other local classifieds. It just takes some time for the right one to come up. I check my local CL daily (takes 3 minutes, maybe) and check regionally every week or so. An hour or two drive isn't too bad for the right rig.

When browsing, look through the entire cars/trucks ads instead of always searching expressly for "C-10" or "K-10", etc. There are plenty of people who can't name their own truck so the list it wrong. Clink on anything that catches your attention, the worst thing that happens is you press the back button.

I have a system (most likely why I can't find a truck) I search 67 chevy truck and go to 72, then I search 72 gmc and go to 67. Then search k5 baker and k5 jimmy. Then I search a few different cities. Still I don't find very many 4x4 3/4 ton, are they really that rare? And I will be sure to check my local classifieds, I didn't think they had classic trucks in them.

Your search info isn't quite right.
don't look for a K5 Baker...or a K5 jimmy.
One doesn't exist and its unlikely the other will be listed as such.
If you want a 4x4 look for 67-72 then do the same search with 4x4 or 4wd then look under 69-72 blazer....that might help out.

well I have found a few just word of mouth , I have actually had people stop buy and ask if id be interested in buying this or that , but I have a few and it shows , gotta love the neibors , every mounth we play circle the chevs/gmcs and have a Winnie roast and marshmellow fry

you have no idea how jealous I am! everybody around me is just making fun of me for wanting one of these trucks. Then when I show them a picture of what it could look like they always say that it is beautiful! There just aren't any in North west ohio. I think I need to drive south Or west. Next place I'm going to check is the junk yards, except we don't really have any of those either, only late model cars.

If you ask lots of the guys on here would probably let you know of deals in your area if you could travel or ship I have seen a few in Idaho.

I'm willing to drive 8-10 hours to get a good truck, but is it worth it in gas to go get it myself? The 03 silverado doesn't do the best on gas. I would like to see it in person before I buy it, or see if a forum member could look at it.

I love hunting for one, time is not so limited, desire is un-measurable, and the budget is 5k. I think the budget is my problem, out here your beater trucks go for 7k-10k...

Damn spell check! Lol. Often times I see a jimmy listed as a jimmy then "like a k5 blazer" as the title. Good point, k5 baker won't get me very far

I feel most of the guys that are looking for any true hot rods or these old trucks is on a losing battle your a day late and a dollar short.15 years ago was the prime time to buy anything from 1955-72 GM car's or trucks

ford you can still find some sweet deals

But 15 to 20 years ago you could find 1955-57 Belairs or 210's for $500 -$1000 running in driving condition

1967-72 camaro's $300-$1900 running with 327 3 speeds 396 with autos and sticks

Are trucks from 1964--72 $200 to $1000 running driving and lic.

But we will hear this same question in 10 years when these trucks are going for $5000.00


and those trucks will be junkers more bondo and crappy china parts then factory.

There will be some barn finds but I feel they guys that run salvage yards for old trucks will part them out instead of resorting them or selling them hole.To are young kids that want to live in yesterday years

I have over 20 people a week bother me about all my trucks suburbans and my nova.

These are the last of the trucks i will own i wont be buying any more.These all have one thing in common with each other.

When i bought them they needed no cancer work done to any of the floors or to the rockers and none of them have cab damage.

So these are the real finds.I wish i did not sell off my collection of 1967-72 camaro's But ran out of room plus with code enforcement back in the mid 90's they where nasty.

I donate stuff to the locale High school auto shop program and wood shop.The kids keep asking me ever year when I'm going to sell my 1965 3/4 ton or my 1972 blue Chevy truck.

Every year i tell the kids when i turn 90 i will hang on to 2 of them my suburban and one of my Chevy trucks

In today market body work is up to $150 to $250.00 a hour working on custom cars and trucks

That's what they call are old car's and trucks so when i was out looking for all my trucks and car's 20 years ago when i was junking camaro's and Mustang fastbacks and Torinos caddys fast backs and chevells and a few corvettes and a lot of these old Chevy trucks.

Most of them had roof cancer floor cancer or they where a pile of crap.I've collected only the ones i wanted to do as little body work as possible.Now my fleet trucks and car's is what i have left


Every one of them have a engine package

1 The Nova has a 396/400 with the 1969 Z28 horse shoe shifter with factory Big block AC/Del co factory AIR box power steering power brakes disc buckets.

Side note the 1968-73 horse shoe shifter is ran by a cable I don't have to butch the floor to put the 1967 camaro or nova floor shifter in.Plus the center console looks better

all my trucks have 350's or 327 engines in them all of them have 1991-92 700R4 transmission in them out of the trucks

I search Craigslist a lot and although it may take a little longer I search by year. For example if I was looking in Ohio I'd search By city, say Toledo, then cars and trucks, then when the 3000 hits come up I put 1972 in the search bar. Yes,by doing that you will get the 1972 Pintos etc. but also any 1972 C10, C20 and GMC's. As has been said some folks really don't know how to describe a vehicle but usually know the year of their truck. If you do it thatway be prepared to look at lots of junk but you shouldn't miss any 67/72 trucks.

Very slim pickens here in the northeast too. Even in the junkyards. I have one very large junk yard 30 miles from me and I only saw 1 old GM pickup (picked to the carcass) out of thousands of vehicles. I guess I have to move too..

I search on Craigslist quite a bit also, using just the year. Start with 1972, then go to 72. work backwards to 1967 , then 67. pulls up everything for that year. but also keep in mind that some people can't spell, and a few trucks or parts will most likely be missed. Mine was never listed, it was found as part of a conversation about a 1982 the guy had for sale. I was as surprised he even had one. Come to find out, he had 2 of them sitting in his pasture.

Keep searching something will come up. I do understand what your saying, sellers in Ohio have there heads in the clouds, I saw a shorty rusted from the floor boards to the windshield frame inside and out and they were still asking $9000 another shorty I went to look at the guy gauranteed me that when I saw it I'd want it (looked decent in pics) I drove over an our with a trailer and it was so bad I couldn't even make him an offer. But I have a super solid truck now and got it for a fair price here in Ohio. Now if and when I get the opportunity to go out west to get something, it's a done deal just because it sounds like a lot of fun.

I purchased my 71 Cheyenne lab yesterday that I found via loca Craigslist. I simply search the year and ignore what I'm not looking for. Most sellers include the year the ad title. So, my search starts at "1967" and finishes at "1972". IT took me about 6 months to find a truck I could live with at the right price point.
