2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

I did this pair for a C/20 I had that I sold before buying tires. They were very clean wheels that have been sand blasted, etch primed, and painted. Somehow the back side picture of one wheel didn't load to my files, so I included a couple post sand blasting pictures. Judging by what I see a set of untouched wheels going for here and the effort put into these, I'd like to get $150 + shipping. I take postal money orders as payment. Thanks for looking! <<< SOLD locally! <<<

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

Hey, good to hear from you. I haven't seen your name here for a while. I wish I never had sold any of these hubcaps I've had. the money means nothing when there are none to be found. Those you bought I had purchased new at the same time I bought two new 16.5 x 9.75s in '91. that's the beauty of steel wheels. If they aren't damaged, all you do is sand blast them and they are good as brand new. You have to sand blast brand new ones anyway if you want to powder coat. When I could buy these wheels brand new 25 years ago they were costing me $75 a piece, then cost to sandblast and powder cat or paint. At the same time, the same size aluminum slot cost about $100. It was cheaper to buy alloy wheels. don't forget the cost of nice hub caps, too. I paid $30@ back then for n.o.s. It would cost 1/2 again what custom wheels cost to have wide steel wheels w/hubcaps. That is why you didn't see so many run their trucks that way. The wide steel wheel was a look that went back to before custom wheels were made for trucks, but I always liked the subtle toughness of this look. if these wheels were made today they would run close to double what I paid back 25 years ago.

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

Best deal on wide 16.5 wheels in the parts board. Priced to sell and help compensate shipping cost. I was in a pinch when I listed these. May just keep them (as I had planned) if they don't sell soon. I got these at a good price, sandblasted, etch primed, and painted. Just looking to get what I have in them back out. I also have one more wheel in excellent original condition I would consider selling, since these are my last wheels. I have a 4th one but it will need some work in one area of the outer lip, pretty thin.

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

Looks like $90 to ship + $225 = $315 for the 3 wheels

I can get a picture of the other wheel. It still has a 10-16.5 Montgomery Wards Straight tread bias ply tire mounted and has decent original black paint... no checks in tire. I would dismount tire, but just saying it isn't sandblasted and painted, but must have seen very little use, if any. Must have been a spare or stored all these years. The tire looks like new

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

I'd like to sell these ready to bolt on wheels (once you mount tires). I'll be taking them to Carlisle Trucks in a few weeks... $150 for the pair. I do have a primo original 3rd wheel and a 4th that needs a little work. The lip on the bead is thin in one spot and needs built-up/ground down. Can get pictures if anyone is interested in a set.

I need a spare. Would you have just one for sale? If so,what would be the price with shipping to 66067?

Ok, gotcha. I had a pair of '9.75s with these but sold them to Dieselwrencher last year.

I could sell the one that nice third wheel. I'll get a shipping quote. Is there a Greyhound station within reasonable distance? The tire is really decent and I wonder what that would cost to ship mounted

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

Last time I used a greyhound/gas station to ship a fender was in a town 20 miles north of me. Lawrence Ks.not sure of the zip. We have a Fastenal here. Not sure if that would work. I'm not opposed to driving to Lawrence though.
I definitely need a spare/tire.

I'm driving two trucks without spares. I might be pushing my luck.

Re: 2-16.5 x 8.25 Steelies

I can do either way, also. I'm about 20 miles from all that, too. Same for FedEx and UPS. We have a local UPS in town but he jacks the prices too much. Let me check quotes on wheel alone and w/tire mounted. Might be optimistic on the tire shipping cost. I just know once off the rim it will never get used. It's pretty cool. It's a Montgomery Wards 10.00-16.5 straight tread bias ply in excellent condition. The tire you buy today will have checks in it sooner than this tire. What did they ever do to rubber? I guess now that they date them it's ok if they rot away as long as it's after the "fresh" date.
