Front brakes lock up?

Installed new prop valve ,old was leaking out the front.drove it for a while ,everything was good.then the brake light came on and front brakes started to lock up,not lock up but almost.seems like there are a lot of problems with these after market prop valves! I have a 71 with front disc ,rear drums.I put new after market booster, master, prop valve.

Re: Front brakes lock up?

The piston slid all the way to that end, brake light came on. Then you have only one circuit, though I'd find it odd the fronts would lock up. The rears I could understand.

Anyway, you either need a better combo valve (it's not just a prop valve) or it may require a bleeding procedure whereby the piston is held in the center while bleeding. Depends on the valve. For brakes I like GM stuff.

Re: Front brakes lock up?

Had a similar problem on my 68 after installing a booster , the rod was to long causing the brakes to drag after a bit , shortened the rod between the master & booster , all fixed.
