2/4 drop question
I am planning a 2" front 4" rear drop on my short bed 66, I will be running 225/75/15 on 8" smoothies.
I have been looking at kits from CPP and Early Classic. The kits are similar with the adjustable trac bar and springs but 1 kit comes with shock relocators. Both mention what is needed for more than 6" of drop in rear. My question is for those who have done this drop, what is really needed for a 4" drop in the rear? Just a new trac bar and springs, or do i need the shock relocators? Thanks in advance |

Re: 2/4 drop question
For a 4" drop you shouldn't need a track bar or shock re locators. I think most people throw in an adjustable trac bar and relocate shocks when they hit 6" in the rear. I have a 4" drop with springs on my 66 and didn't need anything, but I put on an adjustable track bar anyway because I plan to go lower later

Re: 2/4 drop question
I used the deluxe 2/4 kit from E.C.E on my longbed. It came with relocators and KYB drop shocks. The ride is great. My friends with (ahem) more questionable drops always say, "I can't believe how smooth this thing rides" when they ride with me.

Re: 2/4 drop question
My experience was a better ride with the shock relocators. I started with a 4 inch drop and left the shocks in the stock location. The angle degree change is significant. As the suspension is lowered the shocks lay flatter to the ground. I put small zip ties on the shock shaft to measure the travel. I then installed the relocator kit and again and measured the travel distance. The ride felt better and the shock travel distance increased. The kit is inexpensive and in my opinion worth the time and money.

Re: 2/4 drop question
I'm running a 4" drop in the rear of mine at the moment. Stock panhard bar and stock shocks. 0 issues, with great ride.
I used ECE 4.5 front drop and have the 6" drop springs for the rear ...just haven't installed the rears yet Hope this helps

Re: 2/4 drop question
Before I lowered my truck 4" in the rear (long bed) I researched the exact same questions. The best answer I came up with everyones truck is differen. When lowered mine I ended up needing an adjustable track bar. I also installed shock relocators. My truck has an excellent smooth ride now.
