Question with power steering lines..

Ok, so I have a 62 with the 5 lug conversion front cross member and power steering. I'm putting a 350 in it, but what power steering pump for the motor should I use? I have the cvf racing brackets and pulleys for the motor, so should I use their power steering pump?

What power steering lines will route to the correct position on my truck? (what year, what truck, etc.)

I did not install the front crossmember or the rear, so I'm not sure what exactly it came from.. He said a 70's, so..

Also, I was looking at the front where the xmember mounts to the frame, there are 4 bolt holes, (in between the frame, looks like they mount to the crossmember, but they are mis aligned). I'm supposed to put bolts through those correct? AND weld the corssmember to the frame, or do I not need to weld it?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm just trying to piece everything together so I can start working on it and figuring everything out.

As far as all the PS stuff goes, I'm not certain.

But I can tell you for certain, do NOT weld the crossmember in. You'll need to figure out the wheel center with the wheel opening and then enlarge some holes and drill a few new ones and bolt it in with some new grade 8 hardware. I did it on my '62 over the winter and, if I remember, most of the Bottom ones lined up.

For the power steering pump, you can use any power steering pump as long as it has the return hose tube configured as they show on CVF Racing's site. What hoses to use will depend on whether your engine has a short water pump or a long pump. The return line you can just cut the hose to the length you need. If nothing else, you can have a hose made just the length you need at any parts supplier or equipment dealer/repair shop that makes hydraulic hoses.

On that crossmember, I would loosen up all the other bolts and see if you can get those 3 holes on each side to line up. If not you will have to ream them out so that you can install grade 8 bolts in there. As HumphreyMurdoch said DO NOT weld the crossmember to the frame.

Awesome, thanks guys! Once he told me you could either weld the crossmember or bolt it, I said, "weld the crossmember to the frame?" he said oh yeah they do it all the time..
