Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
So I recently purchased a 70 C10 with a 307. It did not originally have power steering. The previous owner had begun adding power steering (transplant from unknown application) and completed everything except for installing the pump and crank pulley. He had the pump and brackets though, which he gave me with the truck.
So I got around to attempting the install today and can't quite figure out the puzzle. I'm not sure what he pulled the pump and brackets off of and I can't see how/where it mounts in. Here are some pictures that I thought might be helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have spent a lot of time going through pictures of these engines online and these forums and have not see any similar brackets yet. In the pictures there are two brackets. The larger one is actually a duplicate of the one already installed on the pump.

Re: Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
I did this on my 70 307 4x4 but no longer need the pump or bracket. LMK and I will dig it out for pics or sale.
It was pretty easy to do. I would put a frame strengthening kit in there while it's apart...

Re: Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
are you sure the stuff is for a short pump and not the long water pump? That would make everything more confusing looking to you. The pump brackets for the Swp are pretty self explanatory.

Sorry about the pics above, the link I used evidently was behind a user login so it all loaded for me. Try these:

The ps pump and brackets in the photos is for a long water pump set up.

Use "teeitup" is an excellent source of items such as this. He makes a sideline/ hobby of parting trucks. I have bought quite a few pieces from him in the past. Great prices, quick shipping, no funny business of any sort. know you cant post a "want to buy" thread on the parts board, but i know of no reason why you couldn't send him a PM seeking the pump and brackets.

Re: Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
There are two brackets needed to install a ps pump on a sbc with a swp. One is like a cradle that mounts under the pump and uses the bolt holes below the freeze plug on the front of the block. (Originally the motor mount holes in vehicles using front mounts, before GM went to side mounts). The other bolts to rear of pump and to one motor mount holes.

The photo is upside down. I took it with my cellphome and tried to edit it 180 degrees but it still post upside down. (!)

Re: Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
Thank you everyone for the feedback. Can I use the pump I have if I get the correct brackets or do I need a different pump?

Re: Need Help: Power Steering Transplant (307)
Not sure if you can use the old pump but don't get rid of it til you are up and running. I have a pump and bracket with a chrome pulley on it that I am not using if you are interested...
