Power steering Hoses, What you running?
Just converted to power steering and was going through the FAQ and didn't really notice any specific reccomendations for Hoses to use.
Just curious if any of you out there have a specific one that works well. I was figuring the 73-87 ones must be close, but the clip I got to use did not have hoses with it so I have nothing to go by. Thanks in advance! ~Aaron

I guess I should specify SBC power! low drivers side pump mount.

Re: Power steering Hoses, What you running?
I never found any off-the-shelf hoses that would work. The return line isn't under pressure, so I made one out of 3/8" rubber hose and some hose clamps. The pressure line I fabricated out of AN fittings and steel braided hose. It's been working fine for two years, and my truck is a daily driver.

I used stock hoses.

Re: Power steering Hoses, What you running?
If your small block has a short water pump and the correct power steering pump with a pre '80 steering box, you should be able to use a pressure hose for a '68-'72. If you have a long water pump with the correct power steering pump and a pre '80 box you should be able to use a '73-'79 pressure hose. If you have a long water pump and the Metric steering box, you would want a '80-'87 pressure hose.
For the return hose, be sure to use power steering fluid compatible hose. Regular fuel hose will breakdown.

Re: Power steering Hoses, What you running?
When I did my first C10 PS swap, I used the pressure side hose from a '68-'72 model. Worked perfectly. For the return, I got some generic 90* pump and box hard line fittings and use power steering hose to connect them.

Edelmann #70917 worked for me.
That is the pressure line. For the return line I got a pre-made brake line and bent it to exit the wheel well and once inside engine bay switched to hose. |
