Wheel tire combo
I'm dropping my 67 GMC 4" front and 6" in the rear. Anyone have a tire wheel combo idea that really works ?? Pics would help me get a better idea if possible. Thanks

Re: Wheel tire combo
I'd like to think so...
4.5"/7" drop with 17x8 Summit Legends (4.5" bs) and 235 55 17 and 17x9 with 275 55 17 on the back (5" bs). Leaf spring rear with a flip on '71-'72 width 5 lug axle.

Re: Wheel tire combo
looks awesome !!!! Thanks for the pic . Trying to get some good ideas. I am wanting a wider tire in the rear but haven't done enough measuring to figure it out yet. Time off work will fix that problem . lol !!

Re: Wheel tire combo
Mike, thanks for posting. I have basically the same drop as you and Im currently running truck rallies... Keep debating on running an aftermarket wheel but most people are going with 20"s and they just look to big to me...
I do like your 17s though... just about right... saving for future reference... thanks again

Re: Wheel tire combo
Thanks for the compliments. Yes ksshane, the 20's just don't look right to me. Neither do 40 series tires on the 17's which is why I went 55. On a stepside, the 275 is absolutely biggest tire that fits without inner bedside mods. I thought about it, but just couldn't bring myself to cut them.

Re: Wheel tire combo
If it is a fleet side, I am told that with the proper backspacing, you can fit a 20x8.5" wheel up front and a 20x10" on the rear of a truck with a 4/6" drop. I am currently dropping my 69 4/6" as well. I have the wheel sizes mentioned with 255/40R20 on the front and 295/40/R20 for the rear. I believe this is about the widest you can go without modification to the bed. Mine's not together yet, so don't take this to heart. LOL!
