I need to borrow a 305 v6 power steering bracket for a template
I'm working on doing a power brake and power steering upgrade on my GMC 2500, but I'm stuck till I get a PS pump bracket. I'm thinking I'll be forced to fabricate one. My 305 already has a double crank pully, so I just need to be able to mount the PS pump.
Would someone lend me one or sell me one? I will put up a deposit. Last edited by wcstory; 05-07-2015 at 06:02 AM. |

I don't have one, but I think that with an original pump bracket(s) you will be stuck with using an original style GMC V6 power steering pump.

Re: I need to borrow a 305 v6 power steering bracket for a template
Captain:
Seems like that would depend on what year truck the bracket came off of. Do you know which year GMC switched pumps to the later style? My bracket came off of a 1967, but to be honest I haven't tried to fit a pump to it yet. GMC used the V6 through the early 70's. It seems easier to find the bracket on the later trucks because power steering seemed to be more popular than on the early trucks. Regards, Steve New Orleans |

I know very little about the GMC V6's. I am just going by what I have seen in pictures regarding the power steering pump. Every one I have seen looks like an oddball to me. However you may be correct about the later model years using a more standard power steering pump.

If you haven't been to the GMC V6 site. They have everything to do with that motor.

Over in the 1967-72 parts board their is a guy selling a complete 305 v6 motor with steering pump and brackets on it. It appears to be the newer style pump. I don't know if he will sell parts off of it.

Thank you, I saw that too. Someone asked first and I PM'd a second..
The 67-72 has several parting out. I also have a request waiting for a price from the seller. Damn you'd think these brackets were made of gold! Posted via Mobile Device |

This listing would seem to indicate that:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271837924153...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT This is the early version but it's complete with both sets of double-groove pulleys plus an AC pulley as well.

Afraid not; but since you have the double-groove pulley you're almost there. Here are a few more photos that may help you.
