73 4x4 running gear on 70 2wd frame?
So tomorrow I will hopefully be picking up this 70 c10 longbed
I'm not really into longbed 2wds I like lb 4wd or 2wd sb but the price is right on this one. I have a 73 3/4 ton 4x4 that was given to me and was wondering if I could swap the running gear from the 73 frame onto the 70? Has anyone ever done this or seen it done?? |

You'll have a hard row to hoe doing it this way...adding crossmembers, spring mounts, if it's coil rear suspension you'll have more work, if it's leaf, axle perches and shock mounts relocated. It is far easier to use the 4wd frame frame the later truck and just leave drivetrain in place

Ah ok. I forgot to see if it was a leaf or coils. I'll probably just stay on the lookout for a factory 4x4

Youll be much further ahead that way, good luck on your search. 4x4s are a bit more of a hunt usually than 2 wheel trucks. They are out there however.
