Rim Size, Scrub Lines and Airbags....need input please
Hello, I have AirRide control arms with Dominator 2600 bags up front on my 1983 C10. I am currently running 15 inch rims all around and would like opinions on the minimal rim size to avoid scrub line issues up front. Obviously 15 inch rims up front poses a serious scrub line issue if there were to be a front tire blowout. SO my question is ......What is the minimal rim size to avoid such issues? 17inch? 18 inch? or do I have to resort to 20 inch wheels to avoid serious injury? I was leaning towards 17inch wheels, but after closer inspection it'll definitely be pretty close even with that size. I'm looking out for my safety and my passenger's safety. Thank you for your input

Where and what is your tire rubbing on?

so you are wanting to know the smallest rim that will keep the control arms etc. from hitting the pavement after a blowout... in other words, if it is running just on the rims, how big do they need to be to keep suspension from dragging the road.. correct?

Yes. That is correct. I had to learn the hard way about the seldom talked about topic of scrub line issues and front control arms and airbags. So I was seeking input about what other's experience has been with a similar set up and what would be the minimal rim size I would have to go with on the front to avoid any problems. 15's are out, 16's are out. Would 17 suffice, or would it be better to go with 18's? Or even 20's (even though I cringe at that thought. LOL). Thanks

The larger the rim diameter, the safer you would potentially be.

Ok. Sweet! That settles it. 20 inchers up front, 15 inchers in the back. You saw it here first.

I'd stick w/some 20's on all 4 corners.
