Well I haven't gotten near as much done to my truck as I would have liked to in the last month...but just last night I found an awesome bodyman who does LOTS of body/paint work on the side and I now have an actual date my cab goes in for bodywork/paint...next weekend (Friday - 9/12)!

He is going to smooth a few minor imperfections on the cab, shave the cab seam (by welding it), and spray the entire cab, inside, outside, and underneath. So I have lots to look forward to!

It really sux trying to find a shop that even works on old cars anymore let alone one that will do a show quality finish and not rush it to get some more insurance claims in!

What i have been doing lately is buying parts I need to finish the interior...such as this shifter for one!

It is a B&M Magnum Pro Stick...similar to the Megashifter only more modern lookin IMO.

Next up is my newly completed dash/gauge bezel...

These are all Auto Meter Ultra Light gauges mounted in the same position as GM mounted them in our trucks (if you had a tach dash of course). I bought the brushed overlay online (Thanks Swerve) and had the holes in it "widened" by a friend of mine who owns a machine shop. He actually wrote a program and had a machine do all the work based on the measurements of the gauges!

Not seen in the pic is the matching trans temp gauge (gotta find a nice place to mount that) and my turn and high beam indicators.

My fiance (shes the one in the pic) says i am not coordinated enough when it comes to style/matching stuff...I think I did a pretty good job here didn't I??!

I will prove her wrong yet. heh heh

Really nice, I have the brushed bezel also, it goes better with my steering wheel. Let's see a pic when you get it installed. How could I widen the holes without a machine shop? You really lucked out there!

Thanks for the kind words folks.

The shifter...I plan on mocking it up on the floor once I get the seat in, to see where it sits height wise. I am assuming it will be too short, so I might ditch the cover, build a console, and mount it up higher and closer within my reach....more "new car" style I guess you could say. I have a *****in console design in my head...can't wait to see how it all works out. The shifter was $199 thru a local speed shop, and the 4-speed auto gate plate (if you have a 700) was like $13...you can get both of them at Summit or Jegs for the same price.

The gauges...the overlay was like just over $100 and all the gauges and Painless wiring harness totaled just over $500 or so. I know it might sound spendy...but these thing are cool and accurate as hell...which is important to me.

84stepper, you could probabally dremel out the holes, but it might take a while and you would run the risk of it "getting away" from ya and scratching the bezel...not to mention the possibility of enlarging the hole too much.

Gary, I am sticking with the same color...yellow.

forgot to add this one, here is my modified stock bezel. I felt kind of bad cutting up a 73 bezel, especially since they are harder to come by.

Everytlhing looks great. Nice indeed. You'll love the gauges, although I'm not sure you're gonna like the tilt down part. I've seen them mounted like you have them and it sure is hard to see the tops of the gauges, and I'm short.

Now we've seen all the parts, how about some more of the model holding them.

the tilt down shouldn't be a problem. I have the same type set-up in my blazer. I have no complaints , I don't have a problem with visibility. You gotta love having a 10K RPM tach and 160 mph speedo in one of these trucks though.lol

That's a sweet lookin' bezel! I've got the brushed aluminum bezel gover as well, and am eventually gonna put AutoMeter gauges in. Yours looks awesome!

Looks good. Cant wait till your truck is finished, its going to look great.

For the turn signal lamps I recommend the painless green ones (I think the 1/2" ones). I bought some of those for mine and they are great. I also bought the small painless lights for the high beams and alarm. I was not happy with the small painless lights, the holding clips suck and they dont stay in place very well unless you put them into something thin. They also do not have a very good color, the blue doesnt look as blue as it should. I asked swervin what he used for the smaller lights and he told me radioshack led lights. I bought some and like them much better then the small painless lights. They are brighter, better color, and cheaper. Just some info to consider.

Hey hey hey, be nice now Chris and Mike.

My fiance Shelly is awesome, she understands my addiction with cars & trucks and is cool enough to agree that we can leave our wedding in my truck...very cool in my mind. Hell, she even bought the tach in the above pictures for me for Christmas!

The cat on the other hand is looong gone. We got her from the Humane Society...coolest cat I ever had...BUT, she would occasionaly **** outside her box! We tried everything in the book to solve this but ended up returnng her. Hopefully she found a good home with loving owners.
