SBC ID explanation???
Greetings all. I am beginning the process of building a street 355. I've got a donor block, and I'd like to know its origin. Here's some pics of the casting # and the ID #. From the V1203TKT I understand that the V means it was cast in the Flint plant and 1203 means Dec 3rd. And from the TKT suffix means that it's a 350 from either '74, '78, or '80 and was originally for a pickup. Furthermore, the casting # 14010207 confirms that it's a 350 from 1980, and that it has 4 bolts on the main caps. My question is:
What does the stamping on the second row of the ID plate on the front of the block mean? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: SBC ID explanation???
It's part of the vin for the vehicle it was first put in.

Re: SBC ID explanation???
TA1 11360
T = GMC A = 1980 1 = Oshawa assembly plant (I's were often used for 1's) There is no truck assembly plant that used I as its code, so the I was used as a 1 = Oshawa) 11360 = last five of the VIN from original truck (last six were 511360) The original vehicle was a 1980 GMC built at Oshawa.

Re: SBC ID explanation???
yes, although the last three letters of the engine ID(first row stamping) do refer to the truck. They are called the application code and give some info on the truck the engine will be installed in, as well as info on the engine.
TKT= Truck, 350cid, 170hp, th350 trans, LS9(engine Code) 4bbl carb, L(vin code), 4wd, 1/2 ton.
