difference between '67, and '68 turn signal buckets - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello every one, what is the difference in '67, and '68 in how the turn signal buckets mount? I have a '67 that only came with one bucket, and I bought a set of "'67-'68" turn signal assemblies and apparently the '68 is different, and these are '68 only. The '67 mounts with studs on the bottom, and '68 mounts with studs on the back I guess?

So my question is, does the '68 have the same grille, and use an adapter bracket? Or does it have a different grille, and different turn signal buckets? Or are these turn signals completely the wrong ones?

I think you have the wrong ones. The 67-68 should be the same. The ones with the studs in back are step van or bigger series truck. Alot of the wrong ones are on e-bay listed as pickup ones.

That is exactly where I got them, ebay. I was just thinking the same thing, they must be for a van. Just one more thing I wasted money on. Thanks.

The 2-pin connectors are slightly different also. '67 turn signal connectors have one blade vertical and one blade on an angle. '68 connectors have one blade vertical and one blade horizontal. [Or was it the other way around?] I just spliced the plugs onto the harness and it was fine.
The grilles are the same. Difference is in the trim rings.
I hit a deer with my '67 Suburban. I got another grille from a junkyard '68. It went right on. Only difference was in the connectors.

Thanks, the info is very helpful. The more I learn about my '67 the more unique it gets.

Of course you know that the "Parking Lights" go out when you select Headlights ON. That is not a short. They do not stay on with the headlights like the '68s and later.
I had a '68 first and that got me until someone told me it was normal, not broken.
