should i jump on it ?
found a chevy long bed today . Factory 402 , 400 turbo with factory tach with posi trac rear. All original .The truck has been owned by the same guy for 33 years. It has $3000.00 worth of parts including a left factory GM bed side. All new GM moldings and rubber. Red truck with black interior . Bucket seats and console.
It needs a left rocker. $6000.00. Truck has about 3000 miles on rebuild. Bored .30. Should I jump on it ? Also has a 72 short bed (been cut) Factory air , 350 crate engine , auto , 4x4. Runs good , needs paint and probably two bedsides. He's asking $5k. |

Below the writing area there is a box that says "Additional Options". In that box is a button that says "Manage Attachments". Click on that button, then browse for your file and click "Upload".

Re: should i jump on it ?
i'd check out the longbed for what's listed it seems like a fair price the hacked and whacked shortbed is a disaster in the making and i'd run away from that one for half the price he's askin would still b high for me

The 4x4 that I found needs bedsides because for what it would take me to straighten the sides , I could buy two new sides. |

Re: should i jump on it ?
I'm with cdowns, the longbed sounds like a good deal if it's in decent shape and all original

I have a factory short frame that came out of a 4x4 if I wanted to put it under the 4x4 or put it under the long bed . Thing is , everytime a long bed is cut , the long beds that exist become a little more rare, |

Both sound like great deals with those options.

Re: should i jump on it ?
Here in Kalifornia I was very happy to pay $3k for a two-owner 402/400/AC longbed. Minimal rust but far from perfect truck. Just an honest and unmolested (and that was the most important to me) daily driver with intact SPID.

Re: should i jump on it ?
I would buy the long bed especially with the parts that are included. Of course I'm jaded towards long bed trucks:-) If you pass on it I would be interested. Good luck and buy what you like best.

Re: should i jump on it ?
I think you should buy what you really want, if you want a long bed then buy a long bed, if you want a short bed then buy a factory short bed.

Re: should i jump on it ?
do you want a long or shortbed? What trim level is the longbed? Need to see the SPID and pics. Nothing "wrong" with a shortened longbed, but personally, I'd want to do it myself or know the guy doing it (i.e. I'd be paying him). You'll never really know the quality of the weld beyond superficial inspection unless you know the welder. To me, 6K seems high for the longbed, but need more info. If it's a Cheyenne Super with original buckets and the 402/400 combo, well, different story. Pics n SPIDS please!
EDIT: that's not to imply I'm a good welder, I just prefer to have nobody to blame but myself! |
