Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

I ordered the whole kit with rotors, I may be able to pull a part number to see what they are off of.

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

I used rotors & calipers for a 79 Caddy Eldorado...same 5x5 bolt pattern.
I bought the bolt on brakes from some guy on ebay that sells them.

I only ended up using the e-cable from CPP to complete my install.

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

CPP only gives me their part # for the rotors and won't say what fits. they do tell you what calipers fit

Try 79 el dorado rotors. I believe those are the calipers they use in their kit.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

You can be sure they aren't anything custom made for them. They came from some stock application. They just won't tell you what. If they did people like me would go straight to the junkyard to get brake calipers, the parts store to get rotors and pads, and cut them right out of the deal.

Which I am pretty much doing anyways.

Then ask autozone or walmart or whatever for rear rotors for 78-79 cadillac seville, $42,99! When you go for pads or calipers, same car 'cause that's what CPP uses.

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

Agree with LEDDZEPP and TAIBO. The kit I used from Toms Classic-eBay ...uses the 78-79 Seville calipers/rotors.

The interesting thing about this thread is we all forgot that the 78-79 Cadillac Seville was a GM X body car. It was built at a time when the industry was struggling so many of the X bodies used the same parts. So, next time I get into one of these discussions I will look up body type and see just what parts were common. Betcha they weren't from a 68 Nova but I would not bet that a 78 Nova didn't use the same parts!

Chevrolet Nova (1968–1979)
Buick Apollo (1973–1974; 1975 sedan only)
Buick Skylark (1975 coupe only; 1976–1979)
Oldsmobile Omega (1973–1979)
Pontiac Ventura (1971–1977)
Pontiac Phoenix (1977–1979)

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

well, I am really confused. you guys make great points. the kit I bought from CPP has an instruction sheet that says to use 1978-1983 Malibu, Chevelle front calipers and CPP's rotors # AR-8608SB. I just wanted to know what rotors fit without buying CPP's. My kit just has the brackets and hoses. my kit # is 6387RWBK

Thank you all for your help here. This old retired guy is getting frustrated. Larry

I wouldn't get frustrated. Like most aftermarket "kits" they change over time depending on the availability of parts at a price which makes the "kit" assembler the most money. Most of us who play with old trucks and cars know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, exactly what it was we put on them. If you learn anything from this it should be not to throw the bull**** flag quite so fast!

Re: Anybody used CPP's rear disc brake kit?

How much are the rotors from CPP? I can't find that part number on their website.
The way that kit was put together was, If you wanted an e-brake, your kit would have had the Cadillac rear calipers. The w/o e-brake kit will come with the Malibu front calipers.
*Malibus had drums on the rear, and the front rotors have the hub built in. Not to mention Malibus weren't 5x5 BP anyway. So asking for Malibu rotors is out.
*Cadillac Eldorados weren't 5x5 BP either (4.75) Neither were the Sevilles that the calipers from the kit use.

This website lets you search by bolt pattern, or by vehicle.
