261 budget performance

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a project truck. It's a 62 c10 stepside longbox with a 261 and 4spd. I have heard that the 261 is a good six platform to add a little power. I am looking to add power without spending to much. I have heard of putting a 235 head to raise compression, headers, carb. Any other ideas?

Re: 261 budget performance

235 head can be ported and polished. May even be able to put slightly larger valves in it. Dual carbs and headers would be a must. lol Also a little more cam would help. You can get custom pistons for these I believe. Give these guys a call and see.
