Need help with exhaust, new seal from manifold to pipes isn't fitting? 1987

Hey guys,

I ordered new seals from the exhaust manifolds to the exhaust pipes and the drivers side one went right in and I buttoned it up no problem...

the passenger side was stubborn and once i get it seating in it wasn't straight so while pulling it out I destroyed it so I ordered another one and it doesn't want to go at all....

these seat up in the manifold and hold themselves there and the pipe goes against the beveled side but is the left and side side different part numbers and parts or something?

I ordered first 2 88891734 then 1 15687224 as I think it's the same part just superseded but not having any luck! any help appreciated the parts guys at chevy could;'t even understand what dang seal I was asking about when I asked them....

it's a 1987 v10 1/2 ton pickup 4x4

Yes, I would call them doughnuts they're the seal between the bottom of the exhaust manifold where it mates up to the exhaust pipe itself which is flanged.

one side no problem, passenger side the above problems and like I said with my hours and the local dealership not stocking them it's either ordering through ebay or them and I've done that twice and still not able to complete the job wanting to make sure they aren't different sizes per each side? stock manifolds btw

For a 1987 V10 with a 5.7 engine. I guessed at the engine size - if it's something else the following won't apply.

Parts list shows the same seal on both sides. GM part is 15522434. Shown as item 1 in the dwg below:

Looks like this?

These are getting hard to find. Mostly an ebay or junkyard item. Here is one:

Both sides should be identical unless someone has changed out one of the manifolds.

Go to any auto parts store and you should be able to get the one you need.

Felpro and other aftermarket gasket/seal manufactures have them available.

thanks so much guys so I am to assume chevy dealer sold me 15687224 which aren't correct in the first place? but again the drivers side went in perfect and seemed correct other one did not and so did the 2nd one I bought to try it again.

Ok I looked back at paperwork and the ones I bought first ware "88891734" these appear to be correct and is the old part number to what you mentioned above maybe one was just warped? not sure I'll order what you mentioned to be sure.

chengny that took so thank you very much for that!

I can tell you that I tried to use an old 87 5.7 Y-pipe on a 83 5.7 and it would NOT bolt up on the passengers side.

After comparing parts side by side , the 87 manifold has a slightly different output angle than the 83.

FYI
