Driveshaft hits center crossmember
1965 Chevy long wheelbase with 6.0 and 4l80E and 8.8 rear axle. The offset of the rearend does not line up with the hole in the crossmember that the trailing arms bolt to. The driveshaft will not clear. I know this combo has been used here before, and this has not been mentioned. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Re: Driveshaft hits center crossmember
You probably need a two piece drive shaft and center carrier bearing MOST (if not all)long beds have/or HAD that set-up

Re: Driveshaft hits center crossmember
The driveshaft would only be around 5'. I do not think that is what others with this comb are doing, but thanks for the response.

Re: Driveshaft hits center crossmember
If you must use the 8.8 differential with the incorrect pinion offset and a single piece driveshaft, then you will have to enlarge the driveshaft opening in the trailing arm crossmember. A driveshaft of that length will need to be of a larger diameter than a shorter driveshaft. 99.9% of the longbeds that I have seen have a 2 piece driveshaft. The 2 piece driveshafts have a bad rep because most use the light duty driveshaft and the whimpy carrier bearing. When it fails they are convinced it is because it is a 2 piece driveshaft. That is not why. It is due to inadequate parts.

Re: Driveshaft hits center crossmember
Listen to Captainfab. Even my Dad's late model Chevy truck has a two piece drive shaft.
