steering wheel help
1963 step side. Need help with length of steering wheel. The existing one, which has been changed at some point that came with it seems real close to me when seated. I want to install a new tilt, how do I decide the length? any help with length and type would be very helpful. Floor mounted auto FYI. Thanks

Sounds like you mean steering COLUMN. Change the subject title and you'll get answers.

Takes some time sitting in your truck and measuring. Here is a pic showing a column and how to measure what you want. Some of the parts of the column are standard and will always be the same. The tube (step 5) is usually what is changed.
Remember to take into account the end that goes through the firewall and the steering wheel adapter (if your using one) that will put the steering wheel in your lap if your not careful. Also the cone of the steering wheel itself (2nd picture). If your using a floor mount shifter this next pic doesn't apply:
