3100 vs. 3200 Fleetside Dif?
Hey guys, did a search but no luck. What's the difference between a 1959 3100 fleetside and a 3200 fleetside?
Are the short bed 58-59 fleetside trucks rare? Thanks |

Re: 3100 vs. 3200 Fleetside Dif?
3200 is 3/4 ton, 8 lug axles, more leafs, more capacity. probably rides like a square wheel unloaded.
rare is a subjective term, meaning, can you find one when you are looking? certainly dont see as many fleetside shortbed trucks but I dont know that they cant be found. is it worth more as a fleetside shortbed? yes in my opinion.

In 58 and 59 there is only 31, 32, 36 or 38 no 3100 or 3200 or 3600
31 is short bed 1/2 ton 6.5 ft bed 2 or 4 wd 32 is long bed 1/2 ton 8 ft bed 2 or 4 wd 36 is 3/4 ton also a long bed 8 ft 2 or 4 wd 38 is 1 ton 9 ft bed no fleet sides only step side fleet sides are not rare long or short, but a 4 x 4 fleet would be in any length bed |

Re: 3100 vs. 3200 Fleetside Dif?
to add to dwcsr's info...
58 was the first yr for the fleetside bed and the apache designation, also the last yr for the cameo trim 59 has very few changes from 58; side and hood spears is pretty much it while i've always liked and owned the 58-59 4 eyed beauties, many 58-59 truck were scavenged to complete the more popular 55-57 trucks as mentioned the 32 is a 1/2 ton, lwb truck and has the same frame as the 36 3/4 ton truck where in michigan are you located? i'm in northville mi 48167

Re: 3100 vs. 3200 Fleetside Dif?
Well, not quite accurate.....
I have a 3200 half ton long bed, and it has the half ton axles and is just a longer framed 3100. they did not change axles or springs on the 3200 half ton. IT STILL HAS THE 6 LUG SETUP AS THE 3100.

link in my signature takes you to the spec manual. scroll down to year index, change to 58 or 59, then look up the specs for each.

Re: 3100 vs. 3200 Fleetside Dif?
58-59 fleetside shortbox trucks are kinda hard to find, just had a guy pay me for a entire truck and just take the box for $700! just sold the rest for $800 and i originally purchased it in 2003 for $5.42!
