Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
They definitely are wanting you to know there is a new engine in it! And with that much emphasis on that I would really get the fine toothed comb out.
No way I'd drop that much coin on an engine for a truck I was trying to sell. |

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I don't think I've seen a SPID that listed Cheyenne Super Truck. Trucks were the only Cheyenne Supers anyway. All about the motor while it's been raped of it's Cheyenne Super features. Is it a Ford guy? I guess if I went to look at it I would just look under the hood and talk about the motor. And when you're done say you would definitely like to buy it and offer him his whole $5k! LOL

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
Alarm, no toolbox or AC on the SPID.
I was going to say $3,500 before I saw what they were asking. I would have been higher until I saw it wasn't original color. Not that it's a huge deal, but when a truck appears to have no rust, and has original paint, it's a lot easier to look over. Who knows what a repaint could be hiding. Of course you already know all of this. You are as seasoned as anyone on this board, I suspect you are interested in the truck, but don't feel it's worth $7,500. If it is a solid truck (no dents and rust), and well built (not a bunch of cobbled together stuff), I could revise my price up to $5,000.

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I was really thinking 5k. Only because it appears to be a solid Cheyenne super 3/4 4wd. I will go look at it and see

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
If it's as rust free as it looks in the picture it's worth the $7,500 hes asking IMO.
However if it's a body filler icing special that is going to require a repair and repaint RUN because after repairs you will have way more in it then it is worth and will ever be worth. |

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
Engine rebuilds have to be well documented for me to consider that in the price.... parts list, receipts, and so on.

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I think they are wrong about it being a Goodwrench. Isn't Goodwrench GM's factory replacement line? Wouldn't a 383 be a GMPP? It appears to me as a crate GMPP 383 purchased through Jegs

I didn't see locking hubs on the spid. Don't see that often.

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I am getting old. A 383 just doesn't excite me, there isn't much I can do with a K20 and a 383 that I can't do with a K20 and stockish 350.
But from here that does look like a nice truck.

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
From the pictures I see, I wouldn't pay over 3000 for it.
Reason being, it's a long bed, and here in Northern California they are plentiful. It probably still needs every bushing and suspension component replaced, and it'd leave another 4k to replace a bunch of stuff. I'm leary about any motor unless there's receipts and pictures of install. |

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
Depends if you can live with the paint and the look of the truck as is. If so, yes, ok price. If no, gotta take off about $2000 to $3000 off that price tag.JMO

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I'll be the outlier here (along with Xeen) - a 556 K20 Cheyenne Super is not a common sighting. It's fairly original except for the repaint, and would be a gem restored. Yes, 7500 a little high for current state imo, but I'd pay the $5K all day long for this truck. Here's my motivation to do so - I love this truck. I believe it's a board members, but haven't seen it in a long while.
On a separate note (and the second pic, not related to the first pic), Tim, I have on rare occasion seen a YE9 listed as Cheyenne Super Truck, but not often at all. Also have seen legit Cheyenne Super Sport, another oddball term on the YE9 setup. Usually Cheyenne Super or Cheyenne Super Equip. EDIT: I agree with the concerns over the 383, I would prefer the 350, or, a GM replacement 290 hp 350, etc. But not a GMPP for a truck. Just me though. |

Re: Opinions wanted on this truck
I always cross any truck with a "hot rod" motor off my buying list. Most of those motors turn out to be a bunch of $$$ expensive trouble, because of a lot of half-a$$ed, want-a-be "hot rod" motor builders don't have a clue. I would be very cautious.
There are more K20 fish in the sea, cheaper and better.
