Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
Who else likes the gmc grill vs the Chevy grill. I've looked around to see if anyone else has written up a how to. Long story short nothings out there or I didn't look enough lol. My question is how hard or how simple is it to replace Chevy grill and lights to a GM setup. If anyone knows of a thread started with this information and can lead me in the right direction please and thank you

Re: Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
I did the opposite. I put a modded Chevy grill in my GMC. the holes in the front panel are different for the grill, the headlamp buckets and the headlamp harness is different. the top two bolt locations are the same, I put a bolt in those holes, and marked and drill new for the other two.

Re: Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
So if I just get a complete gmc grill with light and all, make new mounting holes and fab up the harness . or is it not that easy

Re: Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
Yup. I ran my lights off a relay so I built my own harness.

Re: Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
I used some generic automotive mini relays I had left over. I'm a Tech at a dealership, so I always have some extras.

Re: Gmc vs Chevy grills and lights
It is a pretty easy swap. If you do the relay upgrade you can put new style lamps in and have the power to drive them. I have a GMC grill for my 65 and adding the holes was easy. The grill surround was marked using the grill and I found it was also dimpled from the factory in those spots. Should be a few threads in the FAQ section on the relay upgrade.
