Air Shut-off Valve, Actuator - Seeking education.
71 C-10 with A/C. Please bear it if you can......(learning phase).
1. What's this door flap called? (see first image). The assembly manual reads "PROD VALVE ASM", but......... 2. The door flap sits on the passenger side against the (fill in the blank) (foot board)? 3. Back to the door flap. The door has two fittings with a hole in each (see 1st image). Again, don't know what these are called. Nothing was attached to these and I see nothing attached to them per the assembly manual. What are these for? 4. Safe to assume the fender must be removed to remove the door flap? Okay, that wasn't so bright. 5. The link for the actuator to the bracket mounted on the door flap has two push nuts. Happen to know what size? 6. I jumped the gun, but believe the spring is connected correctly for the actuator to bracket (2nd image). Can you confirm? Probably one of those areas if it fits it works. I'm putting this stuff away for a while and taking good notes, a guide really. I write procedures/systems specs for a living, and when done, this will be very useful, especially for the novice like myself. Correct labels, etc......it's all in the details. Thank you.

The manual does show it.
The bottom of picture. Kick panel vent. To take the flapper out push it open and the small rod on the bottom are top on the inside don't remember is spring loaded. Push it and pull it out. They make repair kits for them also.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: Air Shut-off Valve, Actuator - Seeking education.
Thank you. I'm looking at the same pictures, only mine doesn't have instructions (assembly manual). I'm guessing yours is a repair manual.
As for the the kick panel vent, what are the two "clips" attached to used for? They seem to be just there. Anyone know what size push nuts? I'll wait to remove the vent for after I've removed the heater box, but what I want to know is, how the heck did the top for the container for 3-M electrical tape end up in there (ha!)?..........I can understand the leafs.

Same way a scalpel ends up sewn into someone's chest I'd assume..just a guess

These pictures may help. The rod between the actuator and door measures 0.1225". The push nuts are about 0.23" O.D. The two "fittings" in your first pic are not used.

Re: Air Shut-off Valve, Actuator - Seeking education.
Are you talking about these clips in my picture.
They are for the manual vent rods with handles.

Re: Air Shut-off Valve, Actuator - Seeking education.
First owner strikes again. That's how I figured the spring should be. I wasn't quit prepared when it came off. Not knowing there were nuts in the back, I removed it the "hard way", bracket screws first. Discovered the best way is to loosen the nuts, but don't remove them, then remove the screws from the larger bracket.
Good to know I'm not missing anything in regard to the mystery parts on the door vents. Great pictures..........Thank you for all the info.
