Timing and tuning gurus in or near Fort Worth Tx

I have an 81 with a recently dropped 305 from a caprice. It turns on and runs great but I know it's not running as it should. I think my timing may be just a bit off. It's currently at around 14 btdc. My timing gun sucks and I don't have a tach so I can't adjust for total timing which I would prefer. I think my carburetor needs some fiddling also. I adjusted for highest vacuum with a gauge. It's currently just over 22hgs. The engine is great I just want it running at its best. I'm just scared to take it to any mechanic. It also idles low while it's warming up and high when it's warm. Other than that it runs great. The carburetor is fresh rebuilt from national carburetor. Distributor is accel, coil is msd, plugwires are delco, and plugs are accel shortys set at .45. I live in Fort Worth so if anyone knows of someone who could tune up my truck in the area please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here Is a pic of the truck I've never posted any pictures of it on here before.

I'm not familiar with any places in Ft. Worth, but here's a competent "old school" shop that's approx 50-60 miles from you. One of the mechanics there specializes in 50s-80s Chevys and owns an 82 Chevy pickup.

Their website seems to be down today, but here's their Facebook page:

Great folks, and super honest!

1969 C10 (not the current one) that I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming.

I know these guys well, long time family friends. They've been at this for a long time. They'll get you squared away. Also another 40 miles or so north in Bonham there is a shop that has 2 old school GM Master Technicians.
