LED Lights

A while back someone was building LEDs for our trucks. Did anyone install them?

Would like to hear comments and see pictures.

Can we still get them?

From what I hear they are really bright. I've been wanting some since I saw them on here. Early Classic is the only place that sells them though.... I don't remember the price.

I bought a set of a while back and love them. It is one of the best upgrades to my Blazer that I've done. What really makes it nice is there should be no excuse for the driver behind you to say they didn't see your turn signal or you brake lights come on. Plus I get a lot of compliments on them.

The ones I bought were custom blue dots, but I still haven't bought clear tail lights to really show the blue. Right now I have the factory red tail light lenses and they are really bright. Here is a picture of what mine would look like with clear lenses.

Saw these listed somewhere,(Early Classics?) for $129.00 plus tax. Look good, but I think they're a little pricey. Just my opinion.

I'm with Ohiodan on this one. Neat idea, but way too expensive. $129 will buy me more important things like brake and suspension stuff. My 2 cents.

Reumster and someone else (sorry I forgot) is making them and ECE is the only vender selling them. Yes they are a very good idea and hopefully it makes the two guys some good extra cash flow.

If you don't like the price just keep that to yourself. What good is it to the board by telling us you think the price is to high?

Chaptr2, I wasn't trying to start anything. That's why I stated "My 2 cents" at the end of my post. People give opinions all the time here on products and prices.

I don't like the price ! (JMO) or(2 Cents)

They cost 129.00 or so at Early Classic and that's the only way I can get them now. Do you want to convert that price into CDN dollars for me ? That equals half of a weeks pay !

The light's look awesome ! Don't get me wrong but they are Expensive.

I've been seeing a lot of vehicles these days with LED lights in the rear, and for some reason, lots of them have individual burnt out LED bulbs. I thought that LEDs were supposed to last a long time - hence of the reasons to get them (well, in street lights anyway) I think it looks like hell with individual bulbs blown, looks like little patches of light all over the place.

NOW, these are newer, stock autos, such as the VW beetles, a couple Caddies, and hell, even a couple local transit buses! Maybe the build quality is crappy on factory made units for the production line compared to custom manufactured units?

As far as the price goes - if I had the cash, I'd buy some in a heart beat. Sure they're a bit steep, but damn, if you've seen these suckers running in a dark stormy night - you'll know it's worth the cash!! They seem a lot sharper to me, when someone brakes in front of me with LED lights, than the regular filament lamps.

I don't think the price is bad at all considering what you get. I had some trouble with my brake switch a while back and noticed I had a hell of a time even seeing the brake light with the sunshine at the back of my truck. For that one reason I'm getting them soon. My two cents.

Maybe I missed it but can you get these in RED and then get a clear lens for them. I red lights and use a clear lens, I think that would be cool.

I like the idea of the brighter lights, and the price is worth it to me to keep from being hit by another driver.

My only wish is that they had them available for those of us with the small round step side bed lights. Anybody make those?

I sell them!

I still have a couple sets at $120 pr and I will include the caution tips that will keep you from breaking them on installation. I learned this lesson the hard way. No one tells you the tricks...Now I never have a problem and they are a "cool light show", because they light up the whole lens...not just the top center like stock. Email please---no PMs.

I am working on a low buck set up that I think most of us will like.
I almost have everything sorted out, but the 10 - 11 hrs a day 6 days a week is killing me here.

Oh, they will be pretty cheap too...like 50 - 65 bucks for a do it yourself deal.

I just picked up a set of 1157 led bulbs at autozone for 16 bucks. They are red and are designed to be used with clear lenses.

I would be interested if anyone is using these bulbs in their little round lights on a step side.

I am worried that heat build up would melt or warp the lenzes.

I may be wrong here but don't think LEDs put off much heat at all. The 1157s may be different though.

The reason I ask is that in 1998 I ran a Haz-Mat Emergency Responce Company. I had a halogen quick flash set-up for my headlights, turn signal, and back-up lights. The heat built up in the lenzes was so much that there was noticable warp and clouding on the lenzes.
