72 grille install help
Purchased a new grille, new hardware kit, and new grille support brace from LMC Truck. Problem is the truck was not together when we bought it so I'm having to figure this stuff out by looking at pics and parts schematics. I have the actuall grille in, but can't figure out what hardware to use to connect the grille to the support bracket. Need to know what screw and clips go were and from which direction .
Up close pics would be great if anyone has any available Thanks in advance

Re: 72 grille install help
I just had mine apart. On mine the square inserts went through from the radiator side sandwiching the grill insert. Then used a small sheet metal type screw to expand the square piece. Like a drywall anchor. Hope this makes sense. I'll post a pic in a few.

Re: 72 grille install help
I can see if I have any pictures of a grille installed shortly.
In the interim. I might as well post this to see if it helps: [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG]IMG]http://i63.tinypic.com/2q32fyw.jpg[/IMG][/IMG] This is off one of our dead trucks we haven't restored....my understanding is it was still factory on the front end...never been taken apart. Take that with a grain of salt...as I'm not 100% on that. |

Re: 72 grille install help
I have a ton of pictures but I cannot upload any until I take my computer in to the shop and they straighten it out. I managed to get one of like 25 pics that I have on this thread.
The inner grill to outer grill and back to the front of the truck is pretty easy. The inner grill is held to the outer grill (I have a 1972 truck also) with a series of square "clips." You might can buy new ones at an auto supply store, I used my old ones. These push in. There is a small screw that also goes into the clips but I don't see what purpose those fill. The outer grill is riveted to the grill brackets, I screwed mine together with little pieces a member suggested, forgot what those are called. Found a pic! Ebay.com has these "rivet screws" or something. I forgot what size I bought. http://i.ebayimg.com/06/!B9mv+gQCWk~$(KGrHqEOKjsEzFffEK6BBM6U0k2T0!~~_35.JPG?set_id=8800005007 The grill brackets bolt to the outer fenders. You can sorta see where those go in this pic.....the computer just won't let me link the other pics I have on this. Just can't upload what I have, sorry. Re: 72 grille install help
thanks for the pics guys.....I have the inner grille in place, found out the problem was the PO had the wrong hood latch bolted to the core support, it was throwing everything off ! Ordering the correct hood latch and everything SHOULD line up !
