quick backspacing question

thinking about putting some 15x8 Rallys on my 72, but these wheels have a 4.5" backspace. as I understand, that's so they can tuck under better, yes? so I can run a taller tire? I haven't lowered the truck any yet, and may not get to that for a while. so, running this backspace, it's not going to make the truck look weird, is it? like, too narrow a track? if so, I could run down some 15x8 Rallys with no backspace, probably.

I searched all through here for an answer to this, and probably read it sixteen times, but I wanted to be sure before I do it. thanks for any help.

Re: quick backspacing question

Are you sure they are 4.5" backspace?
(pics?)
If so they will rub on your tierod
4" is usually the max backspace on a 15" diameter wheel up front.

Those are 15x8 truck rally wheels.
They have a 4" backspace.
NOT 4.5"

Re: quick backspacing question

good to know, thanks. so, he's got the specs in the listing wrong? I'm guessing if 4.5" will rub, though, then 4" might as well. may just wait till some with no offset show up, I guess.

Re: quick backspacing question

An 8" wide rim with 4.0 backspacing is 0 Offset.

Re: quick backspacing question

ah. so it's just a stock-normal rally rim, then? guess that wouldn't rub. cool. maybe I'll pick these up. thanks.
