Man...that's only an hour from me. Would be tempting if I wasn't already bleeding cash on other stuff.

Re: Wow....awesome car hauler on CL!
I was imagining restoring the interior, then converting the drivetrain over to an 8.1L and a 4L80E trans swap. That would make for a killer hauler! I've thought about this as a possible transport truck should I get my shop going soon.....

Didn't the 8.1 come with the Allison in some trucks? That could also be a good option... there's an engine/tranny from a box truck on CL around here. Don't know how well it'll fit though.

Re: Wow....awesome car hauler on CL!
I had a 1970 C30 ramp truck years ago with a 350 and a 4 spd. It ran really good. I lived in Ohio at the time, I use to run from Ohio to N.C. hauling car parts and car body(rollers) with no trouble. The truck was geared really low, top speed was 70 mph. I did finally drop a 454 in it and became the biggest gas hog ever. I sold it when I moved south. I should have kept it and changed the trans to match the engine.
Always watching for another one. This one here looks like a good buy. I would loose some of the steel on the bed, lighten up a bit. Ken

Re: Wow....awesome car hauler on CL!
A 350 with AC powering that thing? I don't imagine it moves very quickly, I'd rather have a bigblock like the Roadkill ramp truck, but that's not too hard to solve. I'd be tempted if it was near me.
Looks lowered to me also, probably to make loading easier.
