WOW. Nice Blazer, but damn. I guess it only takes two people that really want the same thing to drive the price up at an auction. The owner must have crapped his pants with joy.

Yeah, two drunk people and one will have an expensive hangover. That is way too much for a Blazer, IMO. I guess it's good for people that own them if the value is going up, but will put lots of wanna be owners out of the market. I don't want to see our trucks go up in value like the Mopar E-bodies did a few years back. If there's too much of a demand for these trucks, re-pro bodies will soon be available and there will be too many of them on the road. It's nice to own something that's not a belly-button car like Camaros, Mustangs etc...

Great point.. I retract my last statement now. I didn't think about the belly-button effect it could have. I'm with you on not seeing to many of these on the road. I still want to people to say nice "bronco" and just walk away and laugh.

I was watching it live and couldn't believe how fast the price climbed. Great exposure for our Blazers! IMO

IIRC - blazers never came from the factory with houndstooth?

I attend the Syracuse Nationals every year, and since I had bought my Blazer last year, I was looking for examples at the show to get some build ideas. Last year they had a record attendance with over 8500 cars and out of those there was just two 69-72 Blazers/Jimmys. That's an extremely low percentage. As far as Camaros and Mustangs, there must have been hundreds from each year in every color imaginable.
I've also attended SEMA numerous times, and have noticed over the years that vehicles of choice are now leaning towards trucks and Jeeps. It only makes sense because the younger generation are into them and not so much into muscle cars or hot rods.
It's inevitable, the price of our trucks will only go up as the demand increases. I see both the pros and cons of it.

I saw the Blazer, it was nice but there were a few things out of place.The inside trim panels were missing from the bed sides, the chrome trim along the shell were not there, there was a couple of holes on the tailgate on each side that were probably from a Bimini top. They listed it as Omaha orange it was paired with the over priced converted 4x4 short bed. The color was hugger orange. I think the price was a bit high.There were quite a few nice trucks that also brought good prices.

Nice Blazer. It's much more along the lines of what I like than the roadster, but $65k is insane, in my opinion. Still, it looks like it was nicely done.

I personally think its about time these trucks are being recognized with proper higher values. The pricing on these trucks has trailed behind similar vintage (lesser imo) trucks for some time. With their rarity and what they offer comparably, they have been bargain basement for far too long and its good to see the market catch up.

Remember this isn't reflective of the real market value though. These are auction prices at a highend auction which honestly has no basis in the real world of fair market value lol Just because it went for $65g doesn't mean every other restored K5 is worth that or their value increased 10 fold over the past week. Unfortunately there are people who think that though & it'll be all over CL soon with people saying "one just sold at BJ for x amount" etc. When you see one sell for $65g at BJ but see a similar one sell for $35g else where you realize it's false inflation possibly due to ego, alcohol, or pure desire with lots of $ the average Joe doesn't have. I never see the over the top BJ prices as having any correlation to market value unless it's the 1 of 1 rare muscle car/sports car that millionaires are fighting over lol But there are some vehicles sold at BJ within market value but those aren't all shown on TV.

totally agree, and I am not saying that 65k is a real number or value, but do believe this is indicative of demand for the trucks and does impact value, even if it is just slightly.

It's nice to see guys who rebuild these classics for a living get benefits from two guys wanting the same thing, but as a guy who finally has the ability to try and find a long sought after classic like the blazer of his own I hope pricing doesn't go crazy. I think it's also tough to put a price on something that you build out of passion, like it seems a lot of guys on here do. To me standing back and looking at something you built or brought back to a usable state that you can enjoy is priceless.

Really? Blazer owners are mad the price is going up? You all should be proud and grateful to own such a rare piece of history and isn't value and taste the reason we do what we do?. I cant believe some people are upset that a blazer sold for so much. I've been waiting for these days for years. Our trucks are finally getting the true respect and honor they truly deserve. If thats not true then tell me why the forums here are on FIRE with news everyday!!! K5 blazer love here and ill be damn proud to see a blazer sell for 100k and guess what, even if they make repro bodys it still wont hurt us blazer owners cause we have the true originals and it will only make them more desirable and sought after. Funny thing is i have a 1970 k5 and they only made 11,527 i believe, and that fact alone is priceless, rare, and beautiful. Were the few, the proud, the blazer owners

cst doesn't mean AC I have a 71 cst that I got from the original owner no AC or power steering. Also owned a base 72 with a 307 Single wall top, AC tilt and tach etc

Correct, from what I've read, A/C and CST were available separately. As for this Blazer being a CST, it was wearing all the deluxe exterior chrome and CST badging(readily available). There were no rear deluxe interior panels or the chrome trim that secures them. Didn't check to see if holes were there for rear trim. The truck had a single wall top but no wiring/plug. Advertising card touted "rare and desirable one-piece top" which I assume was a reference to the single wall top.
