Change bezel lettering - anyone done it?

I'm in the process of installing my old Hickey Sidewinder winch onto my 1980 Suburban. In the course of rebuilding the winch last year, I realized that the remote control is a very simple momentary switch not unlike the fuel selector switch common on the dual tank trucks.

So of course I thought wouldn't it be cool to have a dash mounted switch to control the winch that appeared almost factory installed. What I would love to do is remove the lettering from the fuel switch bezel and change it to something similar to the photo I have attached. Removing the old lettering should be easy - time alone has almost taken care of that for me. Can anyone suggest some method I could accomplish myself to create the new lettering? I've found a font that is very similar to the GM fuel switch. I'm thinking of trying a decal making kit from Testors, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has tackled this in a different manner.

Thanks in advance

you could use a label maker. DYMO makes one and use the white on black tape

or a local sign shop could cut out letters for you.

I hadn't thought of a label maker - thanks. That would solve the biggest problem of using an inkjet decal kit - no white ink.

I like this idea, and I'm going to check that out. I originally wanted the satisfaction of doing it myself, but depending upon the cost a trophy shop will likely give a more professional looking and possibly longer lasting result.

Art shops used to have something called Trans Art type. The letters were attached to a plastic sheet and you rubbed them off onto your desired surface.

any sign shop could make you little vinyl letters spelled out on contact paper!
