Crate motor from Jegs

I finally made the decision to go ahead and get a crate motor.

This is what should be on my door step this week.

Anyone have any experience with JEGS? I cant wait to get this thing!

Re: Crate motor from Jegs

I've had my eye on this one for a while.

You can't beat the price for all new parts. I will of course immediately void the warranty (that probably wouldn't apply anyway) by installing the Edelbrock cylinder heads that are sitting in my basement, along with a more aggressive cam.

I have the older 330hp HO 350 in my truck and it scoots pretty darn good for a little mouse motor. I have a 3:73 ls rear and it will do some awesome smoke shows if you get on it. You're gonna love this engine. I only have a 600 Edelbrock on mine

Re: Crate motor from Jegs

Should be a good little runner with those Vortec heads. I have the 260HP version still on the stand in a bag waiting for my first SBC rebuild to break or wear out. I caught it on sale through Jegs two years ago for $1275 delivered. Many of these crate motors came without a break in procedure so if yours does not, somebody around here has one they'll post up for you. If you have a certified mechanic sign off on the installation GM will honor the warrantee as long as you dont change out any parts. These motors have been known to get wrong parts installed at the factory in Mexico. You picked a good motor with lots of future HP and torque potential if you ever want or need more. I just read an article on that motor and with a set of bigger heads and a matched cam, they were making 425 HP @ 5500 and 400 lb ft @ 3400...I think that motor had flat top pistons and the heads were like 75cc chambers with 180cc runners and 2" intake valves...Nice score, should be alot of fun. ~Ghostrider~

Re: Crate motor from Jegs

I'd put a nice roller cam in there before installing myself. Never understood wasting a perfectly good roller block with a flat tappet cam.
