New turn signal switch w/ tilt is too tight.
Need help from the experts.
I cannot get my new turn signal switch into place because it is just too tight on my factory tilt column. I've already snapped the plastic on one assembly trying to get it in. I thought maybe it was just a cheap reproduction. But the more original one is just as hard to get in. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to take off the outer collar first? I tried but I can get it to budge. Thanks

The upper housing on a tilt column has to come off 1st before removing or installing the turn signal wiring harness.

Any tricks to get a 45 year old housing off?

Re: New turn signal switch w/ tilt is too tight.
Well, it is much easier if the tilt is out of the truck. If it is an automatic tilt, remove the indicator housing, flasher button, turn and tilt levers and get a screw driver and start tapping upward on the bottom of the housing and it should slowly start coming off. Oh and make sure the flasher button is pushed in. It is not easy when it is in the truck but can be done, hope this helps

Thanks 70shortfleet,
A little WD-40 and some tapping got it moving. Now my blinkers will finally work correctly.
